De stagiair is werkzaam op het Ministerie van Defensie in Den Haag bij de afdeling Bilaterale Militaire Samenwerking onder directe leiding van de Defensie Attache België en Luxemburg. De stagiair verricht organisatorische, secretariële en administratieve werkzaamheden ter ondersteuning van de Benelux Coordination Staf (BCS) in het kader van het Nederlandse voorzitterschap van de Benelux Steering Group (BSG) in 2017. De BSG en BCS zijn  door de ministers van defensie van de Benelux landen opgericht in 2012 waarbij het voorzitterschap per jaar bij een ander Benelux-land ligt. De BSG, bestaande uit een politieke en militaire vertegenwoordiger per land komt twee maal per jaar bijeen (medio en ultimo). De BCS komt meerdere malen bijeen doch minstens twee maal, een maand voor de BSG. In 2017 vinden de vergaderingen plaats in Nederland of de residentie van de ambassadeur in Brussel.

About the Motion Picture Association (MPA)

We are the international voice of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). We aspire to advance the business and the art of filmmaking and celebrate its enjoyment through our commercial and regional office in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The MPA firmly believes that strong national film industries and enthusiastic film-going audiences benefit all film makers in Europe. The European and US entertainment industries have a common goal: promoting and protecting the creative sectors, the talent that is at their core, and the millions of jobs they support.

The EMEA office of the MPA is based in Brussels, Belgium and was opened in 1995. Our principal areas of activity include: work on legislative and regulatory issues at the European and national levels; development and implementation of content protection strategies; coordination of region-wide content protection activities in coordination with some seventeen national partners; advocating the development and respect of digital rights management; collaboration with other rights holder groups to promote intellectual property rights; and negotiation and administration of collective management agreements.

Stage Outline and Function

The MPA EMEA policy department is offering a full-time internship at its offices in Brussels for 6 months. The intern will receive a financial compensation. The selected candidate will work closely with the MPA EMEA policy department and will primarily focus on supporting the team in implementing the EMEA Policy Strategy.

Key tasks include:

  • Monitoring relevant EU websites regarding the Digital Single Market, with a specific focus on copyright, audiovisual policies, e-commerce and privacy.
  • Attend and report on the relevant policy events in the European Parliament.
  • Attend and report on the relevant events (conferences / workshops) of interest to the MPA.
  • Support the policy department in coalition activities.
  • Monitoring relevant events and regularly update the MPA calendar.
  • Managing and updating the databases of policy makers and stakeholders.
  • Provide general administrative support as required.
  • Assist the EMEA policy team in organizing events.

The successful candidate should have:

  • A demonstrated interest and experience in IP/copyright/Audiovisual policies/ E-commerce / Digital issues. A law background and an interest in politics are desirable.
  • A demonstrated interest and experience in European Affairs and in the EU making decision process.
  • Good research and writing skills; experience of MS Office tools (Word and PowerPoint in particular).
  • Fluent command of spoken and written English; other EU languages are desirable.

The Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich (IPZ) invites applications for 2 doctoral (Ph.D.) / assistant positions (Assistenzen) in the research group of the Chair of Comparative Politics held by Prof. Daniele Caramani.
The IPZ offers excellent research conditions and a stimulating academic environment. Through its collaborations, research centres and exchange programmes, it is widely internationally connected. The IPZ is committed to promote young scholars in their career advancement and provides strong methodological support. The positions will be filled for 3 years and can be renewed to 1 year contingent on Ph.D. progress, research productivity, teaching quality and commitment to chair and departmental activities. Compensation starts by CHF 53’189.
The successful candidates will engage in research and teaching in the area of comparative politics. They are expected to pursue own research interests, participate to international conferences and produce outstanding scholarship with publications in top journals and presses. Candidates must possess encompassing theoretical knowledge of comparative politics, solid training in quantitative methods and statistical packages (Stata and R), international experience, the ability and motivation to work in team and conduct independent research, and the ability to work fluently in English and/or German.
The tasks include:
• Writing a Ph.D. dissertation based on the candidate’s own research interests in the broad area of comparative politics.
• Teaching undergraduate seminars or introductory courses in English or German (app. 2 hours weekly in 2 semesters of 14 weeks), advising students, preparing and marking examinations, and occasional administrative tasks.
• Participation to the department’s activities and to the doctoral programme.
• Participation to summer schools, scholarly conferences and scientific networks.

De stagiair public affairs en informatiemanagement ondersteunt gedurende de stageperiode de adviseurs bij hun dagelijkse werkzaamheden. Hij/zij houdt zich daarnaast bezig met het monitoren van debatten, kranten, internet en andere media. Ook werkt de stagiair mee aan onze digitale informatiesysteem ‘Haagse Kennis’. Tijdens de stage wordt de stagiair begeleid door een van onze adviseurs. In voorkomende gevallen kan de stagiair worden ingezet bij andere werkzaamheden.
